KAMLA FLOOD MANAGEMENT
APPORTIONMENT OF KAMLA
BARRAGE across the Kamla north east of Jaynagar near Sirha in Nepal to divide between the new(current) Eastern dhar and the old western dhar( Bachchraj dhar).
1. Eastern Kamla dhar flowing east of Jaynagar upto Kanhauli( north of Khajauli) where it can be divided into:
A. Eastward Kamla- Balan flowing by Jhanjharpur.
B. Southward Kamla flowing by Khajauli, Rajnagar upto Nawhath( east of Hati) where it can further be subdivided into:
a. eastern Kamla flowing by Patghat.
b. western Kamla flowing by Sakri
C.Eastern Kamla dhar just d/s Jaynagar off-taking a channel locally called Balarba to flow down by Sitanath, Nararh, Kaluahi, Jagatpur, Malangia to merge into the Jibach.
2. (A). Western (old) Kamla flowing by west of Jaynagar( Bachchraj dhar) through Inderwa, Marhia, Dhagjari, Jagwan, Bisfi, Ragheli, Jalwara, Bhuskaual, Gausaghat, Dhoighat, Baheri etc.
(B). around Jagban-Ragheli, the Kamla spillovers into the Adhawara also.
(C). The Western Kamla near Marhia offtakes a Channel locally called Jibach to flow by Malmal, Kusumaul, Kakraur, Malangia, Gandhwar, Muria, Bhalpatti, Havidih.
This apportionment of the Kamla into these channels( SEVEN in number) will spread over its flood water in an area 40 km wide in east- west direction from Jhanjharpur to Darbhanga town.
WATERWAYS- IMPROVEMENT- the Division of Darbhanga and the Sitamarhi district require more/ better drainage through the following main roads/railways:
Darbhanga-Madhubani-Jaynagar road/railway, Sakri-Jhanjharpur road/railway, Dabhanga-Sitamarhi railway, Darbhanga-Samastipur road/railway, Darbhanga-Benipur-Kusheswarsthan road, Benipatti-Madhubani-Khutauna-Mahadev Math road, Rosera-Singhia-Biraul road
